Frequently Asked Questions

What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is root-cause medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of your health concerns. Figuring this out involves taking an in-depth patient history, physical examination, and assessing lab work. Treatment may consist of these two things:

  • Lifestyle changes including dietary or exercise habits

  • Recommendation of supplements based on lab and examination findings

The goal of functional medicine is to achieve overall long-term wellness. The goal with examination and treatment is to find the root cause of the patients issues and to treat that, rather than the symptoms that it may be causing.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance because a lot of what we do is not covered by insurance. Insurance does not allow for personalized care, but rather dictates care in most cases. At Renew Health and Wellness we pride ourselves on providing personalized care for each patient, because the "one-size-fits-all" does not work. We are a cash practice, so if you would like to see if your insurance will reimburse you following treatment, we can provide you a superbill to submit to your insurance. We do, however, accept HSA and FSA.

What types of treatment do you provide?

Treatment consists of manual therapies, functional medicine, supplementation, nutrition counseling, and lifestyle change recommendations. Recommendations are determined after taking an in-depth patient history, manual muscle testing, and assessing comprehensive lab work. If you would like a more detailed description of these services you can click the "Services" tab at the top right of the website.
